Link your phone account and workspace email
What practice mode means, how texts and calls start going out from numbers in your own phone account, linked once, and your workspace's address for booking and client request emails.
Updated
Your texts and calls go out from numbers in your own phone account, which you link to ControlLaunchPad once. Your phone account bills you directly for numbers, texts and calls, at its own rates; we don't add anything on top. Your workspace also has an address for booking and client request emails, which we connect for you. Until they're set up, ControlLaunchPad runs in practice mode: everything works, but nothing leaves the app.
Emails to your leads are different: each person sends them from their own Gmail, Outlook or domain email. See Connect your email.
What practice mode means
- Texts you send from the Inbox, a lead's page, the quick composer, automations and campaigns are saved in the thread and on the lead's timeline, but not sent. The note after sending says "Practice mode: saved in the app, not sent", and the message is marked practice.
- Client request emails from the workspace's address are saved but not sent, and booking confirmations and reminders are sent by ControlLaunchPad on your behalf.
- Channels says Practice mode, Texting in practice mode or Email in practice mode in its header, and each card says "Practice mode: messages are saved in the app but not sent".
- The Inbox header shows a Practice mode chip, with a link to Channels.
- Calls placed in the browser or by ringing your phone are practice calls too: nothing is dialed. See Call leads from the app.
It's a safe way to try templates, automations and campaigns before real leads get a text.
Go live
Channels has two cards: Texting and calls, and Email, the workspace's address for booking and client request emails. Owners and admins:
- 1. Open Channels.
- 2. On Texting and calls, under Link your phone account, press Ask us to link it. A chat with our team opens with the request already written; send it, and we link your phone account with you, including the texting registration US carriers need. For the email address, press Ask us to connect it under We connect it for you.
- 3. When it's live, the card says Live from your number or address.
Already linked? Press Already linked? Enter your number, type it and press Save. Numbers go in international format, like +15551234567. For the email address, press Already have your address from us? Enter it. The card stays in practice mode until linking (or connecting the address) is finished.
Once it's saved, Update changes it and Remove stops sending from it (with Undo). Once it's live, Need a different number? Ask us (or address) asks our team for a change.
Texting rules worth knowing
- Texts to US numbers need your business registered for texting (A2P 10DLC). It's part of linking your phone account, and its fees are charged by your phone account, not by ControlLaunchPad.
- Leads who reply STOP are opted out automatically, and texting them is blocked until they reply START. Automations and campaigns skip them too.
- Campaign emails always end with an unsubscribe link.
- Replies arrive in the Inbox and on the lead's timeline.
Your number also takes calls
The number you link for texting is your business number for calls too: leads who call it ring the lead's owner in the app. See Call leads from the app and the Calling settings.
Note: Only owners and admins can change Channels. Everyone else sees the status, and asks an owner or admin to get it connected.
