Call leads from the app
Place calls from any lead, take notes while you talk and log how it went in a few clicks. Try it all in practice mode first.
Updated
Calls in ControlLaunchPad go out from your business number, and every call lands on the lead's timeline and in their inbox thread with how it went. Calling is on every plan.
Pick how you call
Open Calling. Under How you call, each person picks their own way:
- Browser: talk through your computer's microphone and speakers. A headset sounds best.
- Ring my phone first: we call Your phone, and when you pick up we dial the lead from your business number. The lead never sees your own number.
- My phone's app: opens your phone's dialer. You log how it went when you hang up.
Browser calling turns on when we finish linking your phone account; until then the page says so, and owners and admins can press Ask us to link your phone account.
Place a call
Press Call on a lead's page, or C while you're on it. You can also call from a pipeline card, the quick look when you hover a lead's name, the inbox's lead panel, the search preview (Ctrl K) and Start my day. Call a lead on the Calling page opens search so you can find someone.
During the call
The call bar floats at the bottom of the page and stays with you as you move around the app. It has:
- Mute and Keypad, for phone menus.
- Leave a voicemail, to play a recorded message (see Missed calls and voicemail drops).
- Notes, kept for the wrap-up.
- End call.
Esc or the chevron makes the bar smaller; click the pill to bring it back. One call at a time.
Wrap it up
When the call ends, the bar turns into the wrap-up:
- 1. Pick how it went: Connected, Left voicemail, No answer, Wrong number or Busy. The call's own status picks one for you first.
- 2. Your notes are kept, and a Summary is written from them. Edit it if you like.
- 3. Keep or change the suggested follow-up task, or turn Add a follow-up task off.
- 4. Press Save, or Ctrl Enter. Skip logs just the outcome and any notes.
When a lead calls you
A card slides in at the top right with who it is, their stage and number. Accept answers it, Decline lets it ring on for the rest of your team or go to voicemail, and Text: I'll call you right back sends that text and declines. Calls ring the lead's owner, or everyone when nobody owns the lead. A number you've never seen becomes a new lead with the source "Phone call".
Practice mode
Until your phone account is linked, the Calling page says Practice mode and every call placed in the browser or by ringing your phone is a practice call: nothing is dialed and nothing leaves the app. Owners and admins can press Ask us to link your phone account to start going live. The call bar shows The lead… buttons (Answer, No answer, Voicemail, Busy) so you can act out what happens. The wrap-up, timeline and inbox work exactly as they will for real.
To try an incoming call, use Simulate an incoming call on the Calling page: pick a lead, choose whether they leave a voicemail if nobody answers, and press Ring.
Recording
On Pro and up, owners and admins can turn on Record calls under Recording, with Tell the lead the call may be recorded if you want a short notice first. Recordings play back on the lead's timeline and in the inbox.
