Connect your phone tools
Find leads by phone number and log calls and texts from another dialer, phone system or texting app, so every conversation shows on the lead.
Updated
Already make calls or send texts in another app, like a power dialer, your office phone system or a texting app? Connect it through the ControlLaunchPad API, and those calls and texts show on the lead's timeline and in their inbox thread, next to everything done here. The API is on Pro and up.
What you can connect
- Find the lead for a number. When a call comes in, your phone tool can look the caller up and show who it is. It matches their main number first, then their other numbers, then the same last 10 digits, so
(512) 555-0100,+1 512-555-0100and5125550100all find the same lead. - Log a call. Which way it went, the numbers, when it started and how long it lasted, how it went (Connected, Left voicemail, No answer, Wrong number or Busy for calls your team made; Answered, Missed or Voicemail for calls from the lead), notes, and a link to the recording if your tool keeps one. We copy the recording to your workspace, so it plays from the lead's page.
- Log a text. Which way it went, the words, the numbers and when it was sent.
Set it up
- 1. Owners and admins: go to Integrations, open API keys and press New key. Under Access, pick Read and write (a read-only key can look leads up but can't log anything).
- 2. Copy the key once and paste it into your phone tool's settings, or give it to whoever connects it.
- 3. Open API docs at the top of the API keys panel for the details your tool needs: Find leads by phone number, Log a call made in another app and Log a text sent or received in another app.
- 4. Make a test key first if you like: it answers like a real key but saves nothing.
Ask your tool to send its name as app (like "Acme Dialer"). Calls and texts then say Logged from Acme Dialer in the thread and on the timeline. Without it, they use the API key's name.
What happens when one is logged
- It sits on the lead's timeline and in their inbox thread at the time it really happened, marked Logged from your tool, and counts as the lead's latest activity.
- Nothing is sent or dialed from ControlLaunchPad. No missed-call text goes out, no automations or campaigns start, and logged texts don't count as texts you sent here, in reports or anywhere else.
- A reply still counts as a reply. When the lead texts in, or their call was answered or left a voicemail, follow-ups waiting on them stop, like a reply here would.
- STOP still means stop. A logged text from the lead that says STOP turns their texts off and puts the number on your do-not-contact list.
- A lead on your do-not-contact list, or with texts turned off, is still logged, since it already happened. Your tool gets a warning back.
- Your team's own texts logged from another app answer the lead, so the conversation stops waiting on you.
Safe retries
If your tool might send the same call or text twice (say, after a dropped connection), have it send an Idempotency-Key with each one. The same key within 24 hours returns the first answer instead of logging it twice.
